About Marc Mandel
Dr. Marc Mandel is a highly sought-after surgeon, specializing in oncologic surgery of the breast and abdomen, general surgery, and complex hernia repair. He is known for his compassionate, down-to-earth nature and is committed to caring for those in the community in which he was raised. “Although I continue to do a wide variety of general and oncologic surgery, I devote a large part of my surgical care to women with breast cancer,” he says. “I bring a sense of artistry to every breast surgery as I was both a biochemistry and art major as an undergrad.”
With more than three decades of experience, Dr. Mandel is accomplished in minimally invasive as well as traditional surgical techniques. In addition to being chief of General Surgery at Overlook Medical Center, Dr. Mandel also is director of Surgical Education. “The latter role is gratifying, as it is important to pass on knowledge to the next generation of surgeons,” he says. Surgical residents from both Columbia University and Morristown Memorial rotate through Overlook Medical Center and “elevate and expedite the care of our patients,” states Dr. Mandel, who is a clinical faculty member at Columbia. Last year Dr. Mandel received national recognition from the American College of Surgeons as a recipient of the Cancer Liaison Outstanding Performance Award. Additionally, he has been recognized for his dedication and care of cancer patients by the American Cancer Society.
“I am proud to be part of Atlantic Health, with its many talented doctors, nurses, and professionals,” he says.
