What’s for Dinner

It’s the question dreaded by scores of harried spouses and working parents. Now the daily grind of preparing a healthful meal has been made easier by Super Suppers, a cooking school in East Hanover and Voorhees.

There customers assemble, in two hours or less, take-home meals featuring either six or twelve chef-designed entrées. No shopping, no prepping, no cleanup.

Sharon Clark, owner/manager of the Voorhees location, says that real-life issues were the driving force behind the creation of the business. “As working parents of three young children, my husband and I know firsthand the struggle of getting a healthy dinner on the table every night,” she says, “and we know we’re not alone.”

To get cooking, register online for a session at supersupperseasthanover.com or ssvoorhees.com. Choose from twelve menu options, which change monthly—pesto salmon and vegetables en papillote, pepperoni and cheese twisted pizza, or fiesta-style chicken chili with a side of Spanish rice. Next, just show up with a carton or cooler to carry your packaged meals home. At Super Suppers you move between various preparation stations set up with measuring cups, bowls, prepped ingredients, and freezer-safe packaging. There are easy-to-follow instructions, which you can adapt to suit your preferences. Can’t use salt? Leave it out. Want more onions? No problem. Hate pepperoni? Substitute another ingredient. Prepare and package each dish, and tag with a pre-printed label that lists thawing and cooking directions and recommended side dishes. It’s so easy, even kids can be chefs for the day. Meals cost about $3 per serving—cheaper than fast food.
