Farmly
Sea Girt
2100 Route 35 North
732-359-6936
Open: Lunch and dinner, daily
Price: $$ BYO
Style: Like a modern take on a Boston Market, Farmly is a brightly lit fast-casual serving organic, fresh-cooked rotisserie meats with vegetable sides. The clean, white-walled dining area features tables and booths and overlooks the hot-food cases and prep kitchen.
The Scoop: Noted chef James Avery of the Bonney Read in nearby Asbury Park opened this “neighborhood kitchen,” as he calls it, in June. He sources ingredients from farms as near as Wall Township and as far as Virginia, Iowa and New Zealand.
The Menu: The rotisserie chicken, available in quarter ($6), half ($10) and whole ($18) sizes, is juicy and flavorful. Other proteins include herb-roasted pulled pork and roast beef. If you’re dining alone, go for the $13.50 personal meal (left), which gets you one rotisserie item and two sides. These accompaniments range from cold salads—such as gigante beans with broccoli rabe, roasted garlic and chili flakes, or cucumber salad with celery—to hot sides like mashed potatoes, white-cheddar mac ’n’ cheese, and roasted vegetables. For added flavor, choose from four sauces: chimichurri, “atomic” horseradish and chive, honey mustard, and gravy. Honey-lavender cornbread is available. For dessert, grab a cookie ($3.50): chocolate chip, lemon blueberry or salted caramel.
