Restoration Made Simple—and Charitable

My house is, in a word, old. We’re talking 1860, pre-Civil War construction old. In the five years I’ve lived here I’ve engaged in more than my fair share of renovation projects—and I would have been lost without the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Cinnaminson.

The idea is simple, the payoff extraordinary. ReStore’s outlet at 1702 Taylors Lane sells overstocked, discontinued, new and used home furnishings, hardware, tools, and building materials. This includes everything from double-hung windows to plumbing fixtures; area rugs to air conditioners; kitchen cabinets to ceramic tiles. And the prices on these items are truly astounding. Just to give you an idea, I renovated my entire bathroom last year (new vanity, sink, toilet, etc.) for less than $300. It’s still difficult to believe I pulled that one off.

ReStore’s entire inventory is donated by businesses, contractors, individuals and supply companies. The revenue generated by ReStore gets funneled right back into Habitat For Humanity, so you’re not the only one benefiting from these sweet deals.

Be prepared to set aside some serious time when you visit. Inventory changes like the weather, so the hunt for that perfect armoire or antique chandelier takes some effort—but it’s well worth it. ReStore also happens to be a great place to find gifts for that vintage-loving friend.

For hours, directions, donation instructions and a list of other ReStore locations, visit their website.
