FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers

FEMA has set up a number of Disaster Recovery Centers around the state for people seeking information and assistance dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

For those struggling to regain their footing after the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy, the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s dedicated Hurricane Sandy page is an invaluable resource. Before visiting a center, it is recommended that residents first register at http://www.fema.gov/apply-assistance or by phone at (800) 621-3362 or TTY (800) 462-7585 for people with speech or hearing disabilities.

To serach for the closest Disaster Recovery Center in your area, visit http://asd.fema.gov/inter/locator/home.htm. The recovery centers provide such services as:

• Guidance regarding disaster recovery
• Clarification of any written correspondence received
• Housing Assistance and Rental Resource information
• Answers to questions, resolution to problems and referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance
• Status of applications being processed by FEMA
• SBA program information if there is a SBA Representative at the Disaster Recovery Center site
