Savion Glover

Gregory Hines, a candidate for the title himself, once called Glover “the greatest tap dancer that ever lived.” The Newark native made his debut at age ten in the 1983 Broadway show The Tap Dance Kid. The riveting, explosive 1996 Broadway hit, Bring in ’da Noise, Bring in ’da Funk, sealed his reputation as the re-energizer of the art of tap. In 2005 he toured in Classical Savion, set to classical music as well as jazz and blues. Glover was the tap dancer behind the character Mumble in the 2006 animated film Happy Feet.
