Celebrate the anniversary of the May 5, 1862 victory of Mexico over a much larger French force. The night will include Mariachi bands and outdoor and indoor band performances. The menu includes Mexican classics such as fajitas, tacos, enchiladas and an assortment of creative margaritas. The party starts at 6:30 pm.

Girls’ Night Out • Downtown Millburn-Short Hills

May 6, 5-8 pm

Enjoy a night with the ladies. For one night only, women can enjoy discounts at local Millburn and Short Hills shops and restaurants. More than 40 businesses are participating, among them Amazing Lash Studio, Splurge Bakery and Evolve Med Spa. Attractions include live music, psychic readings, poetry and a closed-off outdoor dining section on Main Street in Millburn.

Kentucky Derby Celebration, The Ryland Inn • Whitehouse Station

May 7, 4-7 pm

Enjoy the Kentucky Derby in an afternoon of food and fun at the Ryland Inn. The event includes a carving station (smoked brisket, collard greens, shrimp and grits), dinner station (fried chicken, sugar waffles) and appetizers such as hushpuppies, croquets, and fried oysters. Tickets are $109.14 pp and include two mint julep cocktails.

Wildwoods Restaurant Showcase, Blue Water Grille • Wildwood

Located at the Blue Water Grille at Bolero Resort & Conference Center, the Showcase offers tastes of local restaurants and shops. Tickets are $30 pp; all proceeds benefit the Wildwood Chamber of Commerce and scholarships for graduating seniors. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

World Central Kitchen Benefit, LBI Foundation of the Arts & Sciences • Loveladies

May 11, 7:30 pm

The people of Ukraine, via Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen, are the beneficiaries of this fundraiser by the Lighthouse International Film Society. The event includes a screening of the award-winning drama Olga, based on the true story of a young exiled Ukrainian gymnast hoping to compete in the 2014 Olympics.

Numanthia Vineyards Wine Dinner, Amada • Atlantic City

May 13

Enjoy a night of Spanish wines at this dinner in Amada at the Ocean Resort. The Andalusian menu includes tapas, entrées and dessert from Chefs Alex Kopp and Jose Garces. Wine from Spain’s Numanthia Vineyards is being paired with each dish. Tickets are $145 pp. Seating is limited, so reservations are required.

Haddonfield Farmers MarketHaddonfield

Bloom Festival, Autumn Lake Winery • Monroe

May 14, 1 pm

To celebrate Spring, the winery will hold a full day of festivities. Guests can enjoy live music, fresh food and an assortment of Autumn Lake’s wines. Vendors include Mary’s Mobile Diner, Buon Viaggio Pizza and Big Papa Jai’s. Tickets are $15 and include a souvenir wine glass.

Wine in the Pines, Corliss Park Lake Recreation Area • Ocean Township

Sample dozens of vintages from leading Jersey wineries at this weekend event. Guests can also enjoy live music, vendors and food. Salem Oak Vineyards, Plagido’s Winery, White Horse Winery and more will be on hand. Each admission includes a commemorative wine glass for tasting. Tickets are $20 per person; the event is rain or shine.

Vegan Food Festival, Bradley Park • Asbury Park

May 14-15, 11 am- 5 pm

Founders Kendra Arnold and Marisa Sweeney of the Vegan Local host their vegan food festival at the Shore this year. The event includes vendors specializing in vegan clothing, food, products and more, all from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. One-day tickets are $15 pp, two-day tickets are $20. Same-day ticket purchase available.

May 19, 6:30 pm

A special five-course meal is being offered with wine pairings from Silver Oak in California. The menu features burrata ravioli, porcini-crusted king salmon, chocolate-and-coffee braised short rib, filet mignon, and chocolate coconut cake. Wines to be served include a Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, Pinot Noir and more. $165 pp.

The chef of the Pier House restaurant at La Mer is preparing a special four-course menu, each dish paired with a different tequila. Dishes include chicken mango tostada, pan-seared scallops, carne asada, and a dulce de leche empanada for dessert. The dinner is $85 pp; reservations are required.

Taste of the State Fundraising Event, Park Chateau Estate • East Brunswick

May 24, 6-9 pm

Soup Kitchen 411 is teaming with NJ Chef David Burke to raise funds for soup kitchens across the state. Restaurants attending include Nicholas Barrel and Roost, Steakhouse 85, Red Horse by David Burke and more. Guests can purchase meals directly from the participating restaurants and donate to those in need. The goal is to raise $1 million to provide 1 million meals to New Jersey soup kitchens.

Lobster Fest, Harbor Pines Golf Club • Egg Harbor Township

Over Memorial Day Weekend, diners can enjoy lobster specials and live entertainment. Following the weekend, Harbor Pines will continue offering lobster night and live entertainment every Friday throughout the summer. Reservations encouraged.

Located in the church parking lot, the food truck extravaganza is $5 per person, with access to a catalogue of vendors. Live music, a kids zone and a beer and wine garden (plus margaritas) can be found as well. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.

Renaissance Faire, Liberty Lake • Bordentown Township

May 28-29, 10 am-6 pm

Step into the Renaissance era with a weekend-long celebration. Over 20 merchants and vendors are attending, joining live music, skits and more. Guests can snack on bites from Pickles on a Stick, Comfort Fun Foods, Mel’s Magickal Meals, Duke’s Kitchen and more. Tickets start at $10 for kids, $25 adults.

Tab Benoit Concert, Exit Zero Ferry Park • North Cape May

May 29, 7 pm

Singer/songwriter Tab Benoit, Grammy-nominated for his Delta swamp blues, will perform at Exit Zero’s new Ferry Park lawn. The venue will have food and beverages for sale; the performance will take place rain or shine. Tickets $10-$30.

New Lunch Menu,  Liv Breads • Millburn

The bakery recently launched a new lunch menu, in addition to patio seating. The new dishes include tartines made with smoked salmon, quiches with roasted shallot and goat cheese, and baked goods like challah, chocolate babka, pistachio cardamom loaf cake and more. Lunch offered Friday to Sunday, 2-6 pm.

Tacos & Tequila Wednesdays, Drifthouse by David Burke • Sea Bright

With live music throughout the summer, Drifthouse is offering weekly specials, including a midweek taco and tequila night. On Wednesdays, guests can enjoy special tequila cocktails, including the ancho chili mango margarita and the pomegranate citrus margarita. Taco choices include smoking chicken, skirt steak, pork and salmon.
