6 Restaurants Offering Special New Year’s Eve Menus

Good riddance, 2020. These eateries are here to help you ring in 2021—at the restaurant, or with takeout at home.

While many Jerseyans are more than ready to leave 2020 behind, there’s no reason to boycott New Year’s Eve. Chefs around the state have crafted special menus for that night only, with all sorts of delicious appetizers, entrées and desserts.

This is by no means an all-encompassing guide, so be sure to check with your local favorites for specials.

Faubourg, Montclair

Serving a three-course pre-fixe dinner, Faubourg will get you into the spirit with their NYE menu. Your choice of appetizers include lobster bisque, winter chicorée salad (with green grapes and white balsamic), jumbo lump crab, scallop crudo and foie gras terrine (with quince confit and brioche). Scottish langoustine risotto, grilled tuna steak, and duck breast are just a few of the entrée options, with a house-made chocolate bar (served with chocolate sorbet) and a citrus blanc biscuit. Pre-order for takeout from December 28 to December 31 at 4 pm by calling to place an order ahead. Check out the full menu online, $95 per person.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, Maple Shade & Voorhees Township

Each option on Iron Hill’s holiday menu serves six, with main courses that include garlic and herb-rubbed prime rib, honey-garlic glazed pork loin and oven-roasted turkey breast with gravy. Each main comes with choice of two sides, like creamed spinach with Parmesan topping, ready-to-roast asparagus and twice-baked potatoes (stuffed with sour cream, bacon, cheddar and scallions). Other a la carte options are crab cakes, lobster tail, pesto shrimp skewers, seafood bisque and, for dessert, warm chocolate lava cake. Beer and wine can be added to your meal. Order by Monday, December 28, for pickup Thursday, December 31.

Blu Grotto, Oceanport

Ring in the New Year with takeout from Blu Grotto’s menu of Italian favorites. Start with General Tso calamari, bruschetta (with whipped goat cheese and hazelnuts) and short rib meatballs. Choose from an array of entrées, like monkfish, chicken breast al limon, and Berkshire pork chops with peppers. Finish with pumpkin panna cotta, warm chocolate espresso cake and more. NYE order pickup is December 30 from 11 am to 7 pm. Be sure to place orders 48 hours in advance.

Osteria Morini, Bernardsville

Enjoy a three-course meal packed with Italian classics from Osteria Morini for just $65 per person. The first course includes creamy burrata, polpettine (prosciutto and mortadella meatballs) and zuppa (a lobster bisque with black truffle and tarragon oil). For mains: tortellaci (lobster stuffed ravioli), anatra (crispy dry-aged duck breast) and ippoglosso (roasted halibut with parsnip purée). End your night with tiramisu, budino (dark chocolate cream with whole wheat crumble) or torta (ginger olive oil cake).

Rat’s Restaurant, Hamilton Township

Rat’s will  serve only a special New Year’s Eve menu on December 31, and you get one item per course. The four-course prix fixe includes choices of gouda tart (with spicy honey and marcona almond) or  mushroom flan, with dessert options of Baked Alaska (with hazelnut gelato), bruleed fig tarte and chocolate cremeux (with candied orange and raspberry champagne sorbet). Enjoy King Trumpet scallops or crabcakes for the first course, and lamb, halibut, trofie pasta with mushrooms, duck breast or filet mignon for the main course. Call to reserve your spot, $95 per person and add a $45 wine pairing to complement each menu item.

Café Chameleon, Bloomingdale

Kick off 2021 at Café Chameleon with a three-course meal with wine pairings available. Choose from winter squash gnocchi, crab or crudo of beef for the first course; scallops, roasted chicken, rib roast or halibut for the main course, with an assortment of sides to pair with each dish. For dessert, pick either buttermilk pie or chocolate with hazelnuts and marshmallows. Vegetarian menus available on request. Dinners can be reserved at 4 pm, 6 pm, or 8 pm, $85 per person.
