With Super Bowl Sunday approaching, football and fried food fans alike are gearing up to watch the biggest game of the season. Eateries everywhere will celebrate the Super Bowl with parties, specials and giveaways, as well as catered trays for customers to take home and enjoy in their own living room. This year, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will battle it out for the Super Bowl LIV title. While neither team is particularly popular among us New Jerseyans, you can still watch the game, laugh at the commercials and, most importantly, eat.

Whether you are in it for the sport or the snacks, here is a list of five New Jersey restaurants going all out for the big game.

Spring Lake Tap House

The Superbowl special menu at Spring Lake Tap House offers personal pizzas, wings and drinks for $5 or less. If you plan to feed a whole crew, try the $60 “pigskin platter” with enough bar-food staples like chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks to serve a little something for everyone. Wash it all down with pitchers, buckets or even towers of beer—all on special. Prefer to watch at home? Check out Spring Lake Tap House’s extensive catering packages to take home. Spring Lake Tap House, 810 Highway 71, Spring Lake Heights; 732-282-1530.

Asbury Ale House Sports Bar & Grill

Not for the football faint-of-heart, the Asbury Ale House is hosting an “indoor tailgate” Super Bowl party. At the Alehouse, the only sports bar in Asbury Park, a $15 ticket will get you in with access to a wing bar and buffet. Try for a win (even if your favorite team is losing) by entering the prize giveaway and halftime wing-eating contest. Asbury Ale House, 531 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park; 732-455-3808.

Grasshopper off the Green

If you’re in it for a big win, watch Super Bowl LIV on one of Grasshopper off the Green’s big screens and get the chance to win your own. The game-day giveaways include Giants and Jets jerseys, a wide-screen LED TV and a Yeti Tundra Cooler worth $300. The Irish pub is also offering drink and food specials during game time. Grasshopper off the Green, 41-43 Morris Street, Morristown; 973-285-5150.

Black Bear Bar & Grill

You won’t miss a play or a commercial at Black Bear Bar. The space offers a newly updated, massive 25-foot HDTV wall above the bar and an additional 50 TVs throughout the bar. Drink specials include $6 mimosas, $7 Jack Daniel’s, and $25 buckets of spiked seltzer. Black Bear will give away prizes after every quarter. Black Bear Bar & Grill, 205 Washington Street, Hoboken; 201-656-5511.

P.J. Whelihan’s

If you’re looking for a place to feast on wings and watch the game, pick from any of P.J. Whelihan’s five South Jersey locations, all with at least 40 large screen TVs. Take it home with platters from the “crowd pleasers” menu, including 52 wings tossed in your favorite sauce for $52, or a group-sized chicken Caesar salad and 40 chicken tenders for $50. P.J Whelihan’s, multiple locations.
