What Our Editors Are Eating and Drinking Right Now

We're loving apple cider donuts in Princeton, a zero-proof bar in Collingswood and small plates at a restaurant in Neptune City.

The editors at New Jersey Monthly do a lot of eating and drinking around the Garden State. We try new restaurants and bars, revisit old favorites and taste Jersey-made products.

So, each month we round up some of our favorite recent meals, dishes, cocktails and items made right here in New Jersey. Here’s what we’re loving right now.

Apple cider donuts at Terhune Orchards (Princeton)

At Terhune Orchards in Princeton, there’s much to delight in, from the wine made at this family-owned farm to the produce to the pick-your-own apples. At the farm store, enjoy the fresh baked goods daily—and don’t forget the delicious apple cider donuts, a perfect fall treat. Pair them with their delicious pies. —Jacqueline Mroz

Zero-proof drinks at Mercantile 1888 (Collingswood)

While the holiday season calls for gatherings and get-togethers, alcohol doesn’t need to be part of it. Mercantile 1888 in Collingswood is a zero-proof bar featuring high-end, non-alcoholic spirits, wines, beers and cocktails that can be enjoyed in store or purchased by the can or bottle to go. However, if you’re interested in a different kind of buzz, you can purchase cans of beverages infused with CBD or THC (components of cannabis), and all of the bar cocktails can be infused with drops of legal, hemp-derived THC. —Emily Melvin

Small plates at Grand Tavern (Neptune City)

Grand Tavern in Neptune City, just west of Bradley Beach, is the kind of restaurant that locals and well-known chefs from other establishments flock to. Here, the small plates alone are worth the visit to this popular Shore spot. My favorite was the whipped goat cheese, served with pesto, pine nuts and warm focaccia. The tuna tartare, served with avocado mousse, cilantro, corn, jalapeño, lime and fried tortillas, was also a delight. —Jacqueline Mroz
