Is It Summer Yet?

If you’re anything like me and feeling the itch for Memorial Day weekend at the Shore (only 15 days left, folks!), flip to the Travel Channel tonight for a little taste of summertime fun. Travel host Samantha Brown visits our beloved Jersey Shore, and proves there’s more to our coast than just fist-pumping freaks with bad blowouts.

On this episode of Samantha Brown’s Great Weekends, get set for a trip from Asbury Park to Wildwood. Brown tunes into our rock and roll side with stops at the Wonder Bar and the Stone Pony, before showing what she’s made of with a lesson from the Jersey Shore Roller Girls at Convention Hall in Asbury Park.

Looking for some new outdoor activities for this summer vacation? In Ocean City, Brown suggests parasailing high above the Atlantic with Ocean City Parasail and taking a boat to the seas with Ocean City Speedboats. Meanwhile, in Atlantic City, she hangs with the fun-loving Shore band Status Green (who we first featured as a New Face New Jersey in December 2008), for a few spins on the rides at Steel Pier Amusements. After all that activity, Brown knows nothing screams Jersey more winding down the day with a cool ice cream cone. She checks out the doo-wop themed Cool Scoops shop in Wildwood, where they dish out a bit of nostalgia along with more than 30 flavors.

The episode airs tonight at 10:30 pm. Just a warning, but it may only intensify your craving for summer at the Shore. But no worries, our annual Shore Guide hits newsstands May 25 (and that’s only 12 days away)!
