Newark is turning 350 years old in 2016 and the city is kicking off its year-long party—”Newark Celebration 350“—a bit early. This Saturday, October 17, a family friendly event celebrating the occasion will be held at Military Park.
Approximately 200 events will make up Newark Celebration 350 (or NC350, as it’s being called). According to Junius Williams, chair of the board of trustees for NC350, the board’s hope is that the year-long festivities, “will reflect the breadth and scope of Newark and become a source of strength and pride for the city.”
This weekend’s event begins at 11am at NJPAC with the annual Barat Foundation’s Creation Nation Art and Peace Parade. There will be with live music, performances, arts and crafts, various demonstrations and global cuisine representing all the communities of Newark until 5 pm.
