Perfect Timing for Pine Barrens Cleanup

I finally did it. After years yearning, I recently purchased my very first Jeep Wrangler. Naturally, I immediately began looking for off-road events and found one in South Jersey that promises to be fun and rewarding.

The ninth annual Pine Barrens 4-Wheel Drive Cleanup takes place Saturday (October 24) starting at 9 a.m. It’s billed as the largest one-day volunteer event at Wharton State Forest. Last year, more than 200 men, women, and children helped fill two, 30-cubic-yard dumpsters with trash while also enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the Pine Barrens in autumn.

Sign up will take place the Atsion ranger station on Route 206 in Shamong. Don’t worry if you’re not a hard-core off-roader. This event is designed to welcome all 4X4 skill levels and vehicle types, and it’s very family friendly.

Wharton State Forest is one of the state’s most valuable treasures, and it’s important for each of us to contribute in keeping it clean and healthy. If you see me there on Saturday please say hello. I’ll be the guy with the two-door burgundy Wrangler—and the huge smile.
