NJ Twin Brothers Born 40 Minutes—And Yet a Whole Year—Apart

Ezra entered the world on New Year's Eve in 2023. His younger brother, Ezekiel, waited until 2024.

It’s a story they’ll be retelling at every holiday party for the rest of their lives.

Twin brothers Ezra and Ezekiel were born just 40 minutes—and, technically, a year—apart.

Baby Ezra made his grand entrance at Camden County’s Virtua Voorhees Hospital at 11:48 pm on December 31, 2023. His younger brother, Ezekiel, waited until after the clock struck midnight, arriving at 12:28 am on January 1, 2024.

Ezra was born weighing 6 pounds and measuring 18 3/4 inches long; the smaller Ezekiel, 4 pounds, 15 ounces, and 17 1/4 inches long, according to a hospital press release.

Proud parents Eve and Billy of Merchantville are delighted by their healthy deliveries and the quirky turn of events.

“Our only hope was to have healthy baby boys,” Billy told NJ.com. “So this is just another good thing for our family, and we’re excited for this new adventure.”

Amazingly, the family’s birthday folklore doesn’t end there. A New Year’s Eve baby himself, Billy shares his special day with older twin Ezra. And the couple’s oldest son, Hezekiah, will turn three years old on January 3. Mom Eve (yes, Eve!) can’t claim a January birthday, but just celebrated another trip around the sun less than a month ago, on December 7.

“With all of these birthdays 30 days apart, I’ll be saving for 11 months out of the year,” Billy joked to NJ.com.

“Big thanks to this special family for sharing their story,” Virtua Health shared in a sweet Instagram post of the twins on Tuesday.
