Bulldog’s Bar & Grill
743 White Horse Pike, Galloway
609-965-4433; bulldogsbar.net
Hours: Daily, 11:30 am to 10 pm. Late night menu, 10 pm to 1 am.
Price: $
Style: Working-class bar and restaurant with no fanfare, just good food and grog.
Don’t Miss: Order the honey barbecue wings (10 for $7) while you browse the menu. Or, if your tastebuds need a challenge, gamble on the super hot wings, so hot the menu warns: “no refund if you can’t handle the heat.” For something different, try the balsamic burger ($9) with a balsamic glaze, sautéed onions and melted blue cheese. There are a number of sandwiches and wraps, all served with fries, in the $7 to $8 range. Complete dinners include pasta specials such as penne vodka ($11) and tortellini alfredo ($14). Portions are hearty, so dessert can be skipped, but if you have a sweet tooth try the fried cheese cake ($5) just because.
Heads Up: Go with the gang, right after work and take advantage of the great happy hour deals. Share appetizers—chicken quesadillas ($8), spinach and artichoke dip with a healthy portion of pita ($8) and garlic hummus with veggie sticks ($6.25)—and fill-up on $2 beers. There are 20 or so in bottles, and another 10 on tap.
The Scoop: The late-night menu is a good deal, and draws a steady crowd. A DJ entertains Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
