Style: Modern lighting fixtures drip from the ceiling of this intimate sushi joint, while a larger-than-life mural of muted green, yellow, and orange hibiscus adorns one of the walls. At the end of the line of three comfortably close rows of seating is an open kitchen and sushi -rolling counter top, complete with chefs and sushi-makers ready for action.
Don’t Miss: Seaweed salad, a spicy blend of seaweed and sesame seeds in a light soy sauce ($4.95). Miso soup, a simple and refreshing bowl of traditional Japanese soup ($1.50). Oyako Don, white meat chicken served over white rice with scrambled egg and onion, topped with a tasty brown sauce ($12.95). Chicken tempura roll, a lightly flavored roll with avocado ($4.95). American Dream roll, a delicious combination of shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, pickle, and radish ($4.95). Spider roll, a softshell tempura roll with avocado, cucumber, and masago ($8.50).
Heads Up: At times the staff is very limited, so be prepared to wait a little before being seated or placing takeout orders.
The Scoop: Cocoro is located amidst the bustle of a local shopping center but, with its laid-back atmosphere and casual approach, it can offer a relaxing break.
