Pho 9 Vietnamese
Cherry Hill
1200 Haddonfield Road
856-320-6993
Open: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily
Price: $$ BYO
Style: Amidst polished wood tables, a bare plank floor and white plates, the focus here is entirely on Vietnamese home cooking.
The Scoop: Surrounded by older pho eateries and recently opened fast-casual chains, Pho 9 is the new Vietnamese mom-and-pop across from the Wegman’s shopping center.
The Menu: Vast. In addition to the namesake pho (pronounced fuh) rice-noodle soups (pictured) there are plenty of stir-fried rice and noodle dishes, which come with choice of tofu, veggies or a protein). An array of soups and salads on the menu will be familiar to Jerseyans by way of Thai restaurants. For main courses, there are steamed or grilled seafood and meat platters. Cool the heat—temperature or spicewise—with any of eight fruit shakes, plus one made with avocado.
Heads Up: On request, a server happily brought us extra vegetables for a bowl of beef pho and cut back on sugar in the mango shake. Portions are huge, making dishes shareable or providing leftovers. Service is speedy, free parking ample.
What are Quick Bites? Short takes on casual, affordable dining.
