There are approximately 500 plastics surgeons practicing in the state of New Jersey. The goal of this process is to identify the best of those plastic surgeons in each of 10 procedure categories. Leflein Associates, a locally owned research firm in Ringwood, NJ, was commissioned to conduct the independent survey. Research was conducted between November 2017 and April 2018.
Specific criteria include:
- Fellowships and special training
- Review of board certification
- Review of NJ state board license and disciplinary action
- American Society of Plastic Surgery Status
- Years in practice
- Malpractice actions
- Number of procedures performed
- Academic positions held
- Procedure specific positions held
- History of New Jersey Monthly Top Doc awards
- Articles, chapters, books writen related to a procedure
- Lectures given related to a procedure
- Online patient reviews
- Review of before and after photos for each procedure
- Website review
