Style
Contemporary, fast-casual eatery with ordering kiosks, industrial lighting, cement floors, a large, blue-toned, indoor dining area, and outdoor patio with seating.
The scoop
Owner Byron Salazar opened Turf N Surf Burger Grill in Warren in 2012. Its sister—Turf, Surf and Earth—debuted in downtown Somerville in June, with an added focus on plant-based foods.

The menu
Everything is highly customizable, and the vast menu takes time to absorb. Pick your base protein: turf (chicken, grass-fed beef or turkey burger), surf (salmon, tilapia or shrimp), or earth (black bean or lentil-mushroom patty, vegan chick’n, Impossible or Beyond plant-based burger, falafel or tofu). Then decide whether you want it on a bun (pictured) or on pita, over rice or greens, or in a taco. From there, pick from dozens of toppings (from crispy onions to hummus to fried egg), plus 18 different plant-based sauces (such as Buffalo chipotle). Choose one of six sides: French fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, tortilla chips, sautéed spinach or steamed broccoli. Occasional specials include nachos and a hummus platter.
Heads up
Turf, Surf and Earth is situated on Somerville’s busiest street, but there’s plenty of free parking available behind the restaurant.
