STYLE
Family-friendly stop for vegetable-focused rice bowls with meat options. Eat in or take out. Delivery and catering available. The original Millburn location has been bolstered with others in Morristown, Montclair, Livingston and Westfield. Two new Salad Houses will open in Englewood and Ridgewood in early 2022, says owner Joey Cioffi.
THE SCOOP
After discussing with his wife the lack of chopped-salad places in the suburbs, Cioffi decided to apply the knowledge he had gained as a kid working at his parents’ restaurant, Tony’s Pizzeria, in Newark. In 2011, he opened the Salad House in Millburn to provide families and working people with healthy prepared options. In 2016, a longtime customer, entrepreneur Jerry Eicke, proposed franchising the business. The pair have since expanded in North Jersey on the way to a planned 14 locations, Cioffi says.
