STYLE

Large waterfront eatery on a lot originally intended as a commercial fishing dock. Now its patio, indoor bar, booths and tables, and large-screen TVs bask in a blue nautical theme—fish wallpaper, lantern lighting, historic maps and pictures of Point Pleasant.

THE SCOOP

Owned by the Gyftakis family since the 1950s, the Shrimp Box displays a plaque near the front door showing the high-water level reached by 2014’s vicious Hurricane Sandy.

THE MENU

Try the blue calamari, fried and doused with balsamic glaze and bleu cheese crumbles. The tasty shishito-pepper appetizer combines olive-oil-charred peppers with a chipotle aioli. For mains, choose from the likes of shrimp and grits (sautéed shrimp, andouille sausage and bell peppers in Cajun spices over Parmesan cheese grits) or beer-battered cod (flash fried and served with fries and coleslaw). Or go light with salads like the kale, with watermelon radishes, shaved Parmesan, almonds and Craisins, tossed in lemon vinaigrette.

HEADS UP

Sunset dinners, noon–5 pm daily, include soup or salad with entrée, as well as dessert and beverage.
