American Cut Chocolate Chip Cookies

"Chef Marc and I wanted to base the desserts on things you remember from childhood,” says Mallory Staley, pastry chef of Marc Forgione’s American Cut, the steakhouse at Revel in Atlantic City. “A chocolate chip cookie had to make it on there, and it had to be the best you ever ate. Well, let me tell you, Mrs. Fields has nothing on me!”

“We bake these cookies to order and serve them with house-made vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It’s just like when you were a kid, pulling them off the cookie tray as soon as mom pulled them from the oven."

Ingredients:

3 sticks butter
1 cup granulated sugar
¼ cup corn syrup
1 ¾ cup light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk chocolate chips
3 cups bittersweet chocolate chips

Preparation:

1)    Cream the butter, corn syrup and both sugars in a bowl.
2)    Add eggs and vanilla and stir till well blended.
3)    Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add to butter/egg mixture and mix.
4)    Add milk and dark chocolate chips and mix.
5)    Scoop dollops of batter onto a cookie sheet.
6)    Bake at 325 degrees for 8 minutes.
