Atlantic City traded its usual casino-floor buzz for high-fashion glamour as Ocean Casino Resort transformed into a scene worthy of the silver screen during the East Coast’s only advance screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2 at the resort’s Ovation Hall on Wednesday night.

From the moment guests arrived, the evening leaned fully into its couture-inspired theme. Starting with an intimate VIP pre-party, held in one of the resort’s oceanfront suites, guests sipped cocktails and sampled caviar and other savories.

Camera-ready setups allowed guests to sit at a recreation of Miranda’s infamous desk, pop into a photo booth and get a Runway portrait created by an artist. There was even a lipstick engraving station that added a personalized touch—a souvenir as stylish as the evening itself. Lots of movie-branded swag was on hand, from a print edition of the fictitious Runway magazine to T-shirts and caps inscribed with Miranda’s iconic lines.

The entrance to the screening filtered attendees through a pre-party space with a TRESemmé beauty studio for glam touch-ups ahead of the red carpet. Flashbulbs popped as moviegoers posed in custom-designed photo booths, capturing their own magazine-cover moments before the screening.

By the time the lights dimmed in Ovation Hall, anticipation had reached a peak. The screening was the final act in an evening carefully curated to celebrate fashion, film and a bit of escapism—proving that, for one night at least, Atlantic City could rival any big-city premiere.

The much-anticipated sequel to the 2006 blockbuster opened in theaters May 1, again bringing Jersey heavy hitters to the big screen. The new film stars Meryl Streep as the ever-tough Miranda Priestly, still at the helm of trendsetting fashion magazine Runway. Anne Hathaway reprises her role as Andy Sachs, but this time is tasked with reviving editorial features to save the print edition from digital competition and control by advertisers. Newcomer Helen J Shen, a Basking Ridge native, takes on the role of Andy’s assistant, adding to the Jersey-powered cast.
