He’s a Literary American Too

You probably heard by now that Jim McGreevey will publish his memoir later this year. The onetime wunderkind of New Jersey politics certainly has a lot of great material to work with, having presided over the most scandal-plagued administration in recent memory.

He’s got tell-all pro Judith Regan as his publisher, and he’s working with a writer, former Newsweek editor David France, with a talent for exposing life’s seamy underbellies; France is the author of Our Fathers: The Secret Life of the Catholic Church in an Age of Scandal. McGreevey has never adequately explained the actions that led him to leave office, instead choosing to retreat into the bosom of his state police security detail from the moment he announced his resignation to the day he stepped down three months later. Let’s hope for some candor in the former governor’s forthcoming book. Lord knows it’s overdue.
