Popular bracelet brand Alex and Ani has taken accessorizing to a whole new level. Now anyone can own a piece of history with the recently released, limited-edition Liberty Copper Collection.
When Lady Liberty went through her centennial restoration from 1984 to 1986, stainless steel replaced her 100-year-old supports, and the original copper from the statue was preserved. Now that historic copper has been cleverly repurposed. Alex and Ani’s 26-piece jewelry collection of bracelets, rings, necklaces and cuff links contains actual copper from the Statue of Liberty. Pretty cool, right?
Small in size, but mighty in meaning, the collection features charms with an exact replica of Lady Liberty’s torch made from copper, set against a sterling silver or gold charm. Three stars surrounding the torch symbolize peace, love and unity; stars on the back of the charm represent the 50 states; and a star-shaped emblem memorializes Fort Wood, where the pedestal stands on Liberty Island.
Each piece in the Liberty Copper Collection comes with a card that reads: “Bearing her torch, we become Lady Liberty’s movement of light and hope. When we carry light, we ignite the light in others, and create one light indivisible.”
As the Statue of Liberty celebrates 130 years this month, it’s a perfect time to ignite a movement. Alex and Ani is asking customers, “What do you carry light for?” Whether the answer is the Earth, loved ones or a social cause, snap a photo of your new A&A merchandise and use hashtag #carrylight on social media.
The collection is now available at Alex and Ani stores nationwide and their website.Click here to leave a comment
