Open: Lunch, early dinner, Mon-Fri

Price: $

Style: Fanciful burgers in a glassy new ’50s-style diner with outdoor seating in renovated Military Park near NJPAC.

The Scoop: Chris Siversen, chef/owner of Maritime Parc, an NJM Top 25 restaurant in Jersey City, liked the idea of aiding downtown redevelopment and unleashing his inner teenager in creating a fun, affordable menu.

The Menu: The 5-ounce burger patties (a blend of short rib, chuck, brisket and dry-aged trimmings) come in many guises, from the Classic (cheese, lettuce, tomato and special sauce) to the Korean (kimchi relish, spicy mayo, cucumber-sesame slaw, fried egg) and the Chipotle (guacamole, green-chili relish, crunchy tortilla chips). Beyond beef, there are a tuna burger and a veggie burger (pictured), which has crispy onions, apple, lettuce and tomato. Though tasty, it was over-slathered with curry mayo. Thin, hand-cut fries are triple cooked for extra crispness. Pickles and broccoli are available tempura style. Or get your veggie fix from a salad: chopped kale Caesar or arugula with blue cheese and poached pears. Desserts include the coffee float with maple bourbon ice cream.

Heads Up: Burg has cocktails and many craft beers, including some from NJ (happy hour is 4 to 7 pm).—Deborah P. Carter
