Don’t Miss: The blue cheese burger ($11.50) is a must. The 8 ounce Angus burger is topped with melted gorgonzola. The best part: it’s served open faced with a duxelle—a very finely chopped mushroom and truffle paste, slathered on one side of a thick bun. If you’re not a burger fan, go for the fish and chips ($14.50), two pieces of battered and fried north Atlantic pollack served with steak fries and optional malt vinegar, if you’d like to indulge in true English fashion.

Heads Up: The food is good, but the highlight of Iron Hill is the beer—they make their own craft ales, six of them, on site. If you’d like to try all six, get the sampler ($8). If you’re looking for something to munch on while taste testing the beers, without ordering a full meal, try the extra creamy hummus ($9.50), served with pita, feta, and veggies.

The Scoop: Iron Hill Brewery in Maple Shade, opened in July of this year, is the first in New Jersey, (there are seven other locations in Pennsylvania and Delaware). It’s also the first brewpub to open in New Jersey in several years. Some of the beers change seasonally.
