Turf N Surf Burger Grill
Warren
51 Mt. Bethel Road

Open: Lunch and dinner, daily

Style: Fast-casual spot with serious surf vibe, often with surf tunes on the soundtrack. The vibrant dining area has tan and blue walls, a polished wood floor, a few high-top barrel tables, plus surfboards, driftwood and beach decor. A glass case displays rows of burger patties and fresh fish.

The Scoop: Chef/owner Byron Salazar opened Turf N Surf with his sister Kristin in the spring of 2013 in a former TCBY.

The Menu: Pick your protein—turf or surf—and go from there. Try the inside-out burger, an Angus beef patty stuffed with choice of bacon and blue cheese, bacon and cheddar, or habañero jack cheese. Other turf options include turkey, lamb and ribeye burgers. For seafood, take your pick of salmon, tilapia, shrimp or scallops. Put your protein on a bun—combinations include Classic, BBQ Ranch (pictured), Mushroom Swiss and Buffalo Chipotle. For a lighter meal, order the protein on salad or bed of rice. If you go the rice route, don’t miss the signature Spanish rice with chorizo, pork and sofrito. The signature Baja-style fish tacos are made with tilapia and served with pico de gallo, guacamole and tortilla chips. Sides such as French fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings cost extra but are worth it.

Heads Up: Look for occasional specials like the Cubano sandwich, or get creative with your own combination of surf and turf on one burger.
