Chef James Avery Comes to Asbury Park

Avery will open The Bonney Read Seafood Restaurant & Bar.

CHEF JAMES AVERY
New Jersey native chef James Avery has opened The Bonney Read Seafood Restaurant & Bar, 533 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park (732-455-3352). Chef Avery received his Culinary Arts degree at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and has worked at Formagerie (Rumson), Michael Mina’s Sea Blue (Atlantic City), BR Guest Hospitality where he helped to open Dos Caminos, and three sister restaurants at Harrah’s Resort. In 2012, chef Avery was the Blue Team sous chef on Gordon Ramsay’s culinary competition show Hell’s Kitchen on Fox.

CHEFS AT WOOD STACK KITCHEN
John Manzo is the executive chef at Wood Stack Pizza Kitchen, a 7,000 square-foot restaurant with a liquor license that has opened at 29 Rt 46 East, Pine Brook (973-227-3007). He also oversees the operations of Novita Bistro in Metuchen. Scott Tolhurst, who was previously chef de cuisine at Crystal Springs Resorts, is the chef de cuisine. Klaus Kronsteiner is the pastry chef.

DAVID MONTANEZ
David Montanez, previously from Teak in Hoboken, is the chef de cuisine at La Isla Restaurant, a Cuban/Latin American Restaurant at 25 12th Street, Hoboken (201-659-6090); full bar.
