PIG & PRINCE, MONTCLAIR AT BEARD HOUSE, NYC
On June 17, a Heart and Soi” dinner with chef/owner Michael Carrino from Pig & Prince Restaurant & Gastrolounge in Montclair and winemaker Maynard James Keenan of Caduceus Cellars and Merkin Vineyards, Jerome, AZ, will be held at the James Beard House, 167 W. 12 St, New York. The following menu will be presented:

Hors d’oeuvres: marinated fluke crudo; wine barrel, wood–smoked halibut with citrus confiture; lamb heart tartare with dehydrated strawberries and caciocavallo crisps; ko-rubens with housemade pastrami, kimchi, and zesty pickles; and assorted house-cured charcuterie

DINING AL FRESCO
We all love to eat outdoors and now that the weather is cooperating, here are some options to check out:

Central Kitchen, offering contemporary New American cuisine with an Italian twist, at 717 East Palisade Ave, Englewood Cliffs (201-503-0104) has outdoor seating for 40 on two glassed-in patios (one with its own bar!).

With views of the mesmerizing Manhattan skyline, Maritime Parc, 84 Audrey Zapp Drive, Liberty State Park, Jersey City (201-413-0050) offers al fresco dining with seating for 60, with executive chef/owner Chris Siversen’s full restaurant menu; seating for 30 in the bar area. This space is also available for private cocktail parties or dinners for 100-200 guests on Monday and Tuesday.

Chef Ralph Romano at Red Knot, 3 Golf Drive, Kenilworth (908-686-1556) specializes in contemporary American gastropub cuisine and showcases fresh farm produce, Jersey Shore day-boat catch, specialty meats, fine chocolates, cheeses and beer at the new 46,000-square-foot Clubhouse at Galloping Hill Golf Course. The restaurant has a covered, slate terrace that seats 50 and overlooks panoramic views of the 271-acre municipal golf course.

Sam Mickail’s CUT Steak House, housed in the 4Sixty6 lounge and club at 466 Prospect Ave, West Orange (973-474-9896), has an After Work Patio with Miami-style cabanas, where patrons can have drinks and small bites from 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday through Friday.

Score one of the few marble-top bistro tables outside Samba, 7 Park St, Montclair (973-744-6764), where owner Ilson Goncalves’ Brazilian restaurant offers home-style Brazilian cuisine.

NJ BEER FESTIVAL, CRYSTAL SPRINGS, HAMBURG
On June 14 and 15, the NJ Beer and Food Festival will be held at Crystal Springs Resort, Hamburg.

On Friday, June 14, there will be a Top Chefs & Brews Reception with six chefs serving food paired with six New Jersey and New York beers. 8 to 11 PM; $95.

On Saturday, starting at 9 AM, golfers will have the chance to participate in the “Brews & Birdies” golf tournament on Wild Turkey and Ballyowen courses. Tastings of craft beers will be available on six holes ($195 for golf and beer tastings). Other activities include a free outdoor grilling class from 10 to 11 AM; and tours of the wine cellar,

Also, on Saturday the Beer and BBQ Fest tasting event will offer 135 beers from 50 breweries, including many craft brews from New York and New Jersey, paired with a barbecue foods, such as chicken drumsticks, pulled pork, German bratwurst, spit-roasted Berkshire pork legs, German potato salad, cornbread and homemade coleslaw. 3 to 7 PM; $75 early bird, $85 after June 1st.

All weekend, the resort’s two main restaurants, Crystal Tavern and Restaurant Latour, will serve special tasting menus paired with craft beers. Crystal Tavern will feature a three-course "Highlands" menu while Restaurant Latour will offersan eight-course tasting menu in addition to a three-course prix-fixe and a five-course vegetarian garden menu.

DOG DAYS OF SUMMER AT THE BERNARDS INN
Yappy Hour is back on the terrace at the Bernards Inn, 27 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville. Take your dog out on a dinner date every Monday starting in June, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A special menu and half-priced first drinks (for humans) will be offered as well as "pupcakes" and gourmet bones for pooches. DINNER BY CHEF PATRICK YVES PIERRE-JEROME
On Saturday, June 8, a five-course meal created by chef Patrick Yves Pierre-Jerome will be held at St James Episcopal Church, 581 Valley Road, Montclair. The following menu will be served: shrimp a la nage with lemongrass broth; crabmeat salad with guacamole mousse and sweet tarragon-mustard sauce; duck pot-au-feu with fragrant consommé, pulled duck, carrots and onions; boneless lamb loin with artichoke flan, spinach and truffle ravioli, and rosemary sauce; and Napoleon of lemon-curd mousse. 6:30 PM; $65 payable in cash on arrival.
