CRU MEETS BREW
On October 16, a five course collaborative wine & beer charity dinner, Cru Meets Brew, presented by the Montclair Food & Wine Festival and Amanti Vino will be held at the Highlawn Pavilion, 1 Crest Drive, West Orange to benefit Intensive Therapeutics and the newly created collaborative program MACHE: Montclair Academy for Culinary & Hospitality Excellence. The following chefs will be in attendance: Christopher Ryan Arturo, Red Eye Café; Bryan Gregg, Escape Montclair; Adam Rose, Villalobos; Julian Valencia, Ani Ramen House; and out-of-town guest Anthony Bucco. CHEFS THOMAS CISZAK AND TODD VILLANI OFFER FALL FLAVORED DINNERS ON OCTOBER 6 AND OCTOBER 22
Chefs Thomas Ciszak and Todd Villani are teaming up for a pair of dinners showcasing fall flavors at their respective restaurants Chakra and Terre à Terre this October. All the produce will be sourced from local New Jersey farms including Bracco Farms, Terhune Orchards and Shibumi Farm.

On October 6, the chefs will prepare a five-course menu paired with wines at Chakra, 144 W Rt 4, Paramus (201-556-1530). The menu features Villani’s Viking Village scallops from Barnegat Light with cauliflower puree, lardon and 48 hour root beer sous vide short ribs with sweet potato and Brussels sprouts along with Ciszak’s lavender-honey glazed duck with duck fat potatoes and fennel and pear tart and mousse with foie gras ice cream. 6:30; $89 including wines; tax & gratuity additional.

On October 22, the chefs will collaborate on a five-course dinner paired with Tavalon teas at Terre à Terre, 312 Hackensack Street, Carlstadt (201-507-0500). The tea pairing by Chris Cason, co-owner and tea sommelier for Tavalon, features a selection of teas from around the world, served hot, iced and cold-brewed. (Terre à Terre is BYO.) The menu will include: cured duck pastrami with Shibumi Farm mushrooms, while Ciszak will serve arctic char with peas and carrots. Villani’s Black Berkshire pork belly terrine with lavender cabbage, kaffir lime and apple and Elysian lamb Chops with pumpkin and wheat berries follow. Ciszak concludes the dinner with his signature dessert, peanut dacquoise with milk chocolate and sea salt. 7 PM; $79 includes tea pairing; tax & gratuity additional; BYO.


RED BANK FLAVOUR

On Sunday October 19, A Red Bank Flavour Food & Wine Walk will be held throughout Red Bank with participating restaurants offering food and wine tastings. Tickets can only be purchased the day of the walk starting at 1:30 for cash only ($35) at Teak, Char or Danny’s Steakhouse all in Red Bank.
