CHEF CENTRAL ANNOUNCES ULTIMATE CHEF
NEW JERSEY COMPETITION

The following press release was sent to Table Hopping With Rosie from Chef Central in Paramus.

After eight successful seasons of hosting the Ultimate Chef Bergen County competition, Chef Central of Paramus, NJ is pleased to announce the first major change to the event format and the creation of Ultimate Chef New Jersey—New Jersey’s foremost competition for professional chefs. The event, which takes place each January, will now be open to competing chefs from outside Bergen County. This exciting change will add to the excitement of the already popular Ultimate Chef competition.

The Ultimate Chef Competition is an “Iron-Chef” style competition held at Chef Central’s cooking school kitchen.  Chefs from some of the best restaurants in New Jersey compete in multiple rounds throughout January in front of an audience with a secret ingredient.  A panel of judges which include Master Chef’s from the Culinary Institute of America will rate each dish and choose the winner from each round.  The winner advances to the next round, whose winner ultimately competes against the reigning champion from the prior year.  Audience members not only watch the competition, but also get to sample each chef’s food to follow in the action.

The winner receives a trophy, a plaque on Chef Central’s wall of fame and bragging rights to be named the “Ultimate Chef of New Jersey.”  The Ultimate Chef Competition enjoys local media coverage each week, which is great exposure for that chef and the restaurant they are from.  The competition is proudly sponsored by Whole Foods Market.

Event attendees will now enjoy a broader view of our state’s rich treasure trove of talented chefs. Interested participants or nominees should contact Chef Central’s culinary director Jim Edwards at [email protected] for more information. Please join us in celebrating this exciting new venture.
