Jersey City Restaurant Reopens as Chickie’s; Other Dining News

Chickie’s, Jersey City

GP’s Restaurant has reopened as Chickie’s, an Italian eatery. Owner Michael Gondevas (who also owns Hamilton Inn and Hamilton Pork, both in Jersey City), is presenting a menu featuring square pizzas, salads, sandwiches, shared plates (clams casino, fried calamari, meatballs) and more. The restaurant includes a full bar. Open daily at 5 pm.

Spice C, Haddonfield

Steve Yang and his wife, Cecila, recently opened this third location of their restaurant (the other two are in Philadelphia and South Carolina). Specializing in noodles, soup and rice dishes, Spice C also offers appetizers such as steamed dumplings, crab rangoons, chicken wings, cheesesteak rolls and more. Open daily at 11 am.

Roll Thai’d Creamery, Rutherford

This new rolled ice cream spot has opened in southern Bergen County. An ice cream base is poured onto a frozen metal sheet, where it is mixed with the toppings of your choice and rolled into spiral tubes. Visitors can also choose a sundae, such as Matcha Green Tea (green tea and strawberry ice cream topped with Pocky and mini mochi), Banana Pudding (sweet cream ice cream, banana, Nilla wafers and gummy bears), Coffee Bliss (coffee ice cream, pecans, graham crackers and chocolate chips) and more.

Zymm Pickles & Pretzels, River Edge

Striving to promote “healthy eating habits through naturally fermented products,” Zymm’s pretzels are made with organic flour and no commercial yeast. The eatery also offers housemade pickles, organic kombucha, vegan kimchi, baked goods and more. Open Wednesday–Friday from 11:30 am–5:30 pm.
