Slamwich Scratch Kitchen Lives on at White Birch

Chef Sam Freund, owner of White Birch, an upscale American eatery in Flanders, closed his smaller restaurant yesterday. Slamwich Scratch Kitchen, specializing in sandwiches using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible, is closing after six years. Freund made the announcement on Instagram, thanking the community and customers for their support. He also invited guests to stop by White Birch, where Slamwiches will be added to the menu.

Dave’s Hot Chicken • North Jersey

This Los Angeles–based street food chain is making its way east. The franchise has partnered with Amit Patel, who has previously owned Buffalo Wild Wings and Blaze Pizza locations. Dave’s will open 14 locations in Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson and Union counties. The menu features hot chicken tenders and sliders with spice levels ranging from “No Spice” to “Reaper.” Patel is currently looking for locations for the franchises.

Myron Mixon Pitmaster Barbeque • Hoboken

Five-time world barbecue champion Myron Mixon is bringing another location of Pitmaster Barbeque to New Jersey. The menu includes dry-rubbed barbecue beef, pork and baby back ribs (smoked in-house daily), chicken sandwiches, salads and more. The restaurant will open Monday to Saturday at 11:30 am and Sunday at 11 am.
