Style
Welcoming atmosphere in a renovated space, formerly O’Reilly’s. Pickett’s serves a balanced menu of pub and comfort-food favorites. The energetic bar area features flatscreens, cushy stools, a marble bar and wood walls. Skylights and Edison-style bulbs add retro ambience. The dining room, with well-spaced wooden tables, seats 72. The drinks menu includes 24 beers on tap, 16 wines by the glass and signature cocktails.
The scoop
A team of locals, including husband and wife Heidi Hovland and Jim Pickett, was in the early stages of developing the restaurant last year when Pickett unexpectedly passed away. The team decided to continue the project and name it in his honor.
The menu
Buffalo wings are tasty and not overly spicy. Burgers are made from a grind of short rib and brisket and come with crispy fries. A handful of bar pies are offered. Entrées are few but diverse: mussels in cream sauce (above); branzino with orzo; lamb chops with fingerling potatoes; and Buffalo cauliflower with quinoa.
Heads up
Outdoor seating at picnic tables is tucked behind the parking lot and overlooks Maplewood Country Club golf course.
