Put your baking skills to the test at Iron Cupcake, a baking challenge that will raise money for earthquake relief in Haiti.
The competition, to be held on February 28 from 1- 4 p.m. at the Tortilla Press Cantina, will pit amateur bakers against pros in a cupcake baking extravaganza. Like the Iron Chef TV show, bakers will all have to use one special ingredient, though in this case bakers know that one special ingredient in advance: chiles.
Cost to participate is $15 per adult and $7 per child under 12. You can join in the baking – or just pay the fee and enjoy a buffet lunch and cupcake tastings.
Winner in the adult category gets $100, and winner in the junior category wins a complimentary kids cooking class at Kitchen Kapers in Moorestown.
This will be the fifth Iron Cupcake sponsored by Kati Angelini of Kati’s Kupcakes in Moorestown, though the first to be held at the Tortilla Press Cantina and the first to raise funds for the Red Cross’s Haiti earthquake relief effort. Bakers and taste testers are urged to sign up in advance at meetup.com/Iron-Cupcake-Challenge-Moorestown.
