THE LATHAM HOUSE, JERSEY CITY
The Latham House, previously the location of the Kitchen at Grove Station, has opened at 299 Marin Boulevard, Jersey City (201-479-8432). Owned by husband-and-wife chef Daniel Latham and Kris Yettra, American food is featured as well as seasonal cocktails and desserts. Chef Latham previously worked at Cornelia Street Café in New York, while Yettra worked as a GM at Smith & Chang in Jersey City. Along with salads and sandwiches, dinner entrees include: sesame-crusted salmon; Thai bouillabaisse; chicken pot pie; and corn shiitake risotto. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday from 5 PM; lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM; brunch Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM.
WAFFLEWICH WAFFLES & ICE CREAM SHOP
Wafflewich Waffles & Ice Cream Shop is now open next door to The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor. You’ll find a variety of goodies, including signature made-to-order Coney Waffles: a waffle-ice cream sandwich crafted on a custom waffle iron. The shop also offers classic ice cream cones and cups, with a dozen flavors and an assortment of toppings. The retro shop, outfitted with pink-and-white stripes and vintage black-and-white photos of people eating ice cream, is open from noon until 10 PM daily.
MITCHELL’S FISH MARKET, EDGEWATER
The previous location of The Crab House is now Mitchell’s Fish Market Seafood Restaurant & Bar, 541 River Road, Edgewater, a chain offering fish, salads, noodles, and steaks. Along with their market catch, which can be grilled, blackened, broiled or pan seared, signature dishes include cedar-planked salmon; Shanghai sea bass; hoisin-glazed yellowfin tuna and lobster and shrimp stuffed cod. Happy hour is celebrated Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 PM. Mitchell’s is open daily. Reservations: 201-840-9311.

Horseneck Tavern, previously Desi’s, has opened at 11 Bloomfield Avenue, North Caldwell serving Modern American cuisine (973-287-6850).

Pete’s Tavern, an Italian restaurant at 117 Morris Street, Morristown has sold their liquor license and is now BYO.
Short rib or shrimp flatbread, empanadas, tacos, sashimi tuna, vegetable eggroll, bacon fries, chicken wings and sliders are a few of the menu items at the newly opened Twisted Tapas, 1006 Main Street, Belmar (908-433-8531).
CLOSINGS
Bella Campania in Hillsdale has closed. Owner Chris Tarta wrote in an e-mail that he was unable to come to acceptable lease terms with his landlord and will be heading back to the kitchen of his other restaurant, Due in Ridgewood, as executive chef.
