A Bustling New Pizzeria in Hainesport, Plus More Openings, Closings

A former nurse and ironworker opened Lillo’s Tomato Pies in September, an authentic African eatery has come to Teaneck and other news.

RESTAURANT OPENINGS

Lillo’s Tomato Pies • Hainesport

This is owners Lisa and John Paxia’s first time in the restaurant business, having previously been a nurse and an ironworker. The husband-and-wife team fell in love with pizza after buying their own outdoor wood-burning oven. Lillo’s opened in late September. They say they’ve been very busy and selling out of dough.

Asante’s Restaurant • Teaneck

Authentic African cuisine is the theme. The menu includes sweet plaintains, grilled lamb chops, chicken and fish dishes, stews and more. Bergen resident Ed Asante operates the eatery, open daily at 11 am.

Illycaffé (at American Dream Mall) • East Rutherford

Guests are offered an Italian experience inside this new café, complete with Italian coffee and a traditional Italian coffee bar. The menu includes Italian-inspired coffee drinks, teas, nitro cold brew and a catalogue of both sweet and savory bites. Located at Coca-Cola Eats (Court C, Level 3).

Harry’s Oyster Bar & Seafood  Atlantic City

After a ten-year run, Harry’s Oyster Bar & Seafood closed in late September. When their lease expired, husband-and-wife owners Frank Dougherty and Maureen Shay made the announcement. Harry’s opened at Bally’s in 2011.
