Jayce Baudry French Pastry • Montclair
A classic, French-style pâtisserie opened in downtown Montclair on November 1. Jayce Baudry, the owner and operator, has several years of pastry experience, some at Michelin-starred restaurants. The menu includes pastries found at cafés throughout France, including eclairs, as well as Baudry creations like his Tropical Cake (passion fruit–banana mousse, coconut dacquoise biscuit, roasted pineapple and mango confit). The shop will serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas and artisanal ice creams.

The Cookie Connect • Hoboken
In 2016, Ali Hajihaidari and Andrew Zerquera began baking cookies out of Hajihaidari’s apartment and delivering them to students at Montclair State University late at night. This October, the duo opened their third Cookie Connect location in New Jersey. Offerings include a cereal ice cream bar. The menu features flavors such as Apple Pie, Nutella Stuffed Chocolate Chip, Fruity Pebbz and more. The storefront is pick-up only.

ShopRite • Wayne
This new ShopRite opened on October 31, replacing the ShopRite on Hamburg Turnpike. It’s located in the Wayne Hills Mall, which previously hadn’t been in operation for years. Owned by the Inserra family, the new store includes a “dietician nook,” a gourmet kitchen, Patsy’s Butcher meat department with trained butchers; locally grown, organic fruits and vegetables, and more.

To celebrate its opening, this sub chain gave out a free hoagie to the first 100 customers. The menu includes an array of premium sandwiches, as well as cheesesteaks, meatball subs and more. Open daily from 10 am–9 pm.
