365 VEGAN SMOOTHIES: Boost Your Health with a Rainbow of Fruits and Veggies
By Kathy Patalsky

Grab a glass, the ingredients, and a blender because this enticing cookbook will have you whipping up beautiful looking and tasting smoothies all year long. A few that caught my eye were: Lovely Lavender Blackberry; Surf’s-Up Peach Shake; Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup; Raspberry Cashew Cheesecake; and Chocolate-Covered Cherry. Each recipe stipulates the nutritional properties and benefits of the ingredients used, as well as “boost it” fixings that can add to the wellness value or taste of the smoothie. Along with information on equipment, ingredients, vegan substitutions and facts and myths, recipes are listed in twelve wellness themes such as detox, calming, beauty boosting and my favorite, anti-aging. Here’s one to try:

Limes Over Laser—Anti-Aging
Calories: 281

Forget about laser and Botox, and grab some limes. And kiwis. And mint. And chug this antioxidant-rich sip. This free-radical fighting smoothie is a much more enjoyable way to take care of yourself from the inside out.

3 Tbsp fresh lime juice
1 Tbsp chopped mint
3 kiwis, peeled
1 frozen banana
½ cup coconut water
½ cup ice

Boost it: 1 teaspoon flax oil

Directions: Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend from low to high until smooth.
