The Kettle & Grille

The Kettle & Grill in Marlton looks and feels like a sparkling new diner but bills itself as a “casual American kitchen.”

Style:  This “Casual American Kitchen,” as it calls itself, looks and feels like a sparkling new diner.

The Scoop: Owner Peter Savva’s father ran the Harvest Diner in Cinnaminson. Peter employs his mother and sister at Kettle & Grille, whose menu is almost exactly like the one his dad had.

The Menu: Choices span the globe, from huevos rancheros to gyros; salmon in sweet, chili Thai sauce; penne à la vodka; roast turkey; and barbecue ranch chicken salad. The Savva family hails from Cyprus, so Greek is a good bet. The Mediterranean omelet, with beef or chicken gyro, tomatoes, onions and feta, was marvelously moist. Every day brings five homemade soups.

Heads Up: Hot chocolate is made with powdered cocoa and water, but lattes and cappuccinos are the real deal. The restaurant doesn’t accept reservations on weekends; expect to wait. For the very gluten sensitive, the kitchen will prepare french fries in oil not used for breaded items.
