Coronavirus Update: These NJ Restaurants Are Offering Takeout and Delivery

Updated on an ongoing basis: Our detailed list of restaurants that are closed for now, plus others open for takeout and delivery.

It’s near impossible to predict the ongoing toll of the coronavirus pandemic. But it’s clear businesses are already hurting, severely. Within the restaurant industry, we’ve already seen some initiatives to mitigate the damage: delivery options, discount gift cards, most recently—and perhaps ambitiously—the Dining Bonds Initiative, a new national program spearheaded by HP-PR and Hall PR meant to draw funding to the struggling restaurant industry ASAP.

The concept is simple: consumers buy a Dining Bond from a participating restaurant now, thus providing funds vital to support them through this crisis. You can redeem your bond at a later date. The crux of the whole set-up is the bonds are sold at 25 percent cheaper than the actual value, meaning you can buy a $100 bond from a restaurant for just $75. FYI, most restaurants require 30 to 60 days before redeeming (and of course any new coronavirus restrictions will impact that). You can find a list of participating restaurants, including Sushi by Bou and Costanera, here.

It might seem like a drastic step, but restaurants are suffering hugely in the wake of COVID-19. In a recent press release, Dining Bonds initiative co-founder Helen Patrikis was blunt: “We’re already seeing a number of restaurants close and are very concerned about the future of the industry.”

We’ve started compiling a list of such closures below. Bear in mind: these are temporary closures.

We’re also updating the list of restaurants offering takeout and delivery on an ongoing basis.
