Food Events

Rosie dishes about delectable things to do, including Edible Jersey magazines Eat, Drink, Local promotion and the State Fair at the Meadowlands.

Over 50 restaurants throughout New Jersey will participate in Eat, Drink, Local Week presented by Edible Jersey, a magazine dedicated to promoting local, seasonal foods of the Garden State. This event is also co-sponsored by Zone 7, a fresh-from-the-farm distribution service that connects local farmers and chefs by delivering high-quality ingredients from farms in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania to restaurants and grocers through NJ, PA and NY.

Some of the restaurants partaking in this promotion that will offer special prix-fixe and supplemental menus featuring the harvest from New Jersey farmers are: Agricola, Princeton; A Toute Heure and 100 Steps, Cranford; The Bernards Inn, Bernardsville; The Blue Pig Tavern, Cape May; The Ebbitt Room, Cape May; Elements, Princeton; End of Elm, Morristown; Frog and the Peach, New Brunswick; Ho-Ho-Kus Inn, Ho-Ho-Kus; Langosta Lounge, Asbury Park; Light Horse Tavern, Jersey City; and Ryland Inn, Whitehouse Station. For a complete list of participating restaurants, visit the Edible Jersey website.

Feast on “fair” food between June 20 and July 6 at the State Fair, which will be held at State Fair Meadowlands Fairgrounds, next to Met Life Stadium, Stadium Road, East Rutherford; GPS Address: 102 NJ State Highway 120, East Rutherford. This year, along with corn dogs, curly fries, funnel cakes and cotton candy, attendees will find sausage & peppers, cheese steaks, seafood, pizza, pasta, gyros, Asian and Latin dishes, ice cream, Italian ice, fried Oreos and fried candy bars. Health-conscious options include hibachi tofu, Italian and Greek salads, chicken kebobs, popcorn, low-fat ice cream, and more, while adventurous palates can chow down on alligator bites, fried PB&J and a donut burger—a hamburger with bacon and cheese between two glazed donuts. BURP! For more information, visit the event website.
